Getting Started

New to Wurm Life? Start here.

A
Wurm Life is a community tool for Wurm Online players. It tracks server events in real-time and serves as a historical archive of past events - unique creature kills, rift openings, settlement foundings and disbandments, and more. You can also manage your deed upkeep with Discord/email notifications, compare skill progress over time, and stay informed about what's happening across all servers.
A
No! Many features are available without an account. You can browse the Chronicle, check server status, view the public skills leaderboard, view character profiles, and use various community tools. Registering unlocks personal skill tracking, deed upkeep management with notifications, and more.
A
Wurm Life is an independent community project and is not officially affiliated with Code Club AB, the developers of Wurm Online. We use publicly available server feeds to provide our services.

Chronicle

Track server events in real-time.

A
Chronicle captures server-wide announcements including: unique creature kills, rift openings and closures, settlement foundings and disbandments, mission completions, weather changes, and more.
A
Use the filter bar at the top of the Chronicle page. On desktop, click the server pills. On mobile, tap the dropdown to select a cluster, then optionally choose a specific server. You can also click "All Servers" to see everything.
A
Each server has a dedicated archive page with its complete event history. Click on any server name in Chronicle or use the server sidebar to access it. Archive pages feature:
Event tabs - Filter by slayings, rites, rifts, missions, deeds, and more
Time filters - View events from the last 7 days, 30 days, or all time
Search - Find specific events by keyword
Clickable names - Character names link to their full profiles
A
Yes! Throughout Chronicle, server archives, and other pages, character names are clickable links. Clicking a name takes you to that character's profile page where you can see all their tracked activities - slayings, rites cast, deeds founded, titles earned, and more.
A
We only capture events that appear in the official server XML feeds. Some local events (like private messages or personal achievements) are not broadcast publicly. Very old events may also be archived. If you have historical event data you'd like to contribute, feel free to reach out!

Skill Tracking

Upload and compare your skills.

A
Press F1 to open the console, then type dump skills and press Enter. This saves your current skills to a text file. Alternatively, you can enable automatic dumps in the Wurm launcher settings: click Settings → enable "Save skills on exit". Your skills will auto-save every time you quit the game.
A
For standard installs: C:\Users\[You]\wurm\players\[Character]\dumps\

For Steam installs: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Wurm Online\gamedata\players\[Character]\dumps\
A
Step 1: Add a character first - click the "+" button in the Characters panel and enter your character name, select the server they play on, and choose public/private visibility.

Step 2: Select that character from the dropdown. The upload area will become active and show "Uploading to [YourName]".

Step 3: Drag and drop your .txt files onto the upload area. You can select multiple files, upload .zip archives, or your entire dumps folder. Tip: Open your dumps folder, select all (Ctrl+A), and drag them here.
A
Select your character from the dropdown in the Characters panel. The upload area will show "Uploading to [YourName]" confirming dumps will go to the right character. If you have dumps from a different server, first edit your character settings (pencil icon) and change the server, then upload.
A
The Skill Progression page compares your uploaded dumps over time. Select a character and date range, and you'll see which skills increased, by how much, and visualizations of your training progress. Use presets like "All Time", "Last Week", or "Last Month" for quick comparisons.
A
When adding a character, you choose whether to make them private or public. Private characters are only visible to you. Public characters appear on the Skills leaderboard where others can view your skill levels (but nothing else).
A
Skill dumps from before June 2020 don't include a server name. When uploading these older files, they'll automatically be associated with the server you've selected for that character. Make sure your character has the correct server set before uploading old dumps. All dumps from June 2020 onward include server information.
A
Dumps are skipped if: (1) they're from a free account (skills capped at 20), (2) they're duplicates of an existing dump with the same date/skills, or (3) they're from a different server than your character's current server setting. If you need to upload from a different server, edit your character (pencil icon) and change the server first.
A
Characters are locked to one server at a time. To upload dumps from a different server:

1. Click the edit icon (pencil) next to your character name
2. Change the server to match the dumps you want to upload
3. Upload your dumps - only files from that server will be imported
4. Repeat for other servers as needed

You can drop your entire dumps folder and the system will automatically filter and import only the dumps matching your selected server.
A
My Leaderboard lets you compare your own characters against each other by any skill. Click the "My Leaderboard" tab in the Skill Dashboard header to access it. Select any skill from the dropdown to see which of your characters ranks highest. You can also filter by cluster (Northern/Southern Freedom, Epic, etc.). This view shows all your characters including private ones - only you can see this leaderboard.
A
The Journal tab is a personal character profile where you can record information about your Wurm Online character that isn't captured in skill dumps. Access it by clicking the Journal tab in your Skill Dashboard. Here you can track your meditation path and level, religion and priest status, personal goals, and free-form notes.
A
In the Journal tab, select your meditation path from the dropdown (Knowledge, Insanity, Power, Love, or Hate). Once selected, a level slider appears (0-16). As you select a level, you'll see your current title (e.g., "Enlightened" for Knowledge level 11) and all your unlocked abilities will be displayed at the bottom of the Journal tab with descriptions and cooldown times.
A
Once you set a meditation path and level, the Journal displays all abilities you've unlocked. Each ability shows its name, description, and cooldown (if any). You'll also see the next ability to unlock and what level is required. Abilities vary by path - for example, Knowledge path gives "Recall Home" at level 12, while Path of Power gives "Erupt/Freeze" at level 7.
A
In the Journal tab, select your character's religion from the dropdown (Fo, Vynora, Magranon, Libila, or None). If your character is a priest, toggle the "Is Priest" switch. This helps you keep track of your character's spiritual progression.
A
Goals are personal objectives you set for your character - like "reach 70 blacksmithing" or "complete a unique slaying". Add goals by typing in the input field and pressing Enter or clicking Add. Check them off as you complete them, and delete them when done. It's a simple todo list for your Wurm ambitions!
A
Notes is a free-form text area where you can write anything about your character - deed locations, trade contacts, build plans, skill grinding strategies, or anything else. Your notes are saved automatically when you click outside the text area.
A
My Roster is a quick-reference table that appears on the Journal tab when no character is selected. It shows all your characters that have meditation abilities (level 4+) or are marked as priests. The roster displays each character's meditation path and level, their highest unlocked ability (like Enchant Grass or Recall Home), religion and priest status, and Channeling skill level. Click any row to jump directly to that character's full journal.

Deed Upkeep

Track your deed maintenance costs.

A
The Upkeep Tracker helps you monitor your deed's remaining upkeep time. Simply paste your settlement info and we'll help you keep track of how many days until disbandment, with color-coded warnings as the deadline approaches.
A
In Wurm Online, right-click your inventory label or settlement token, then select Settlement → Settlement info. This displays your deed details in the event window.

Copy each line from the event window, starting from "The settlement motto is..." down to "The upkeep will last...". Paste the copied text into the parser and it will auto-detect all your deed information.
A
Go to the Upkeep page (requires login), paste your copied settlement info into the text area, and click "Parse Info". Wurm Life will automatically extract your deed name, coffers balance, monthly cost, and upkeep time remaining. Then select your server from the dropdown - this helps track deeds with the same name on different servers.
A
The parser extracts: Deed name (from "The size of X is..."), Motto (first line if present), Size (dimensions), Guards count, Coffers balance, Monthly cost, and Days remaining.
A
Click the refresh icon on your deed card. Paste your updated settlement info and click "Update Deed". Only the coffers and upkeep timer will be updated - no need to re-enter all details.
A
Deeds are color-coded by urgency: green (30+ days), yellow warning (10-30 days), and red critical (under 10 days). You can customize these thresholds in notification settings.
A
Go to the Upkeep page → click the gear icon next to "Add Deed". Enable Discord notifications and paste your webhook URL. Click "Test" to verify it works. You'll receive alerts when your deed upkeep reaches warning thresholds.
A
In Discord: Server Settings → Integrations → Webhooks → New Webhook. Name it (e.g., "Wurm Life Alerts"), choose a channel, and copy the webhook URL. Paste this URL in your Wurm Life notification settings.
A
Yes! In the same notification settings panel, toggle on email notifications. Alerts will be sent to the email address associated with your Wurm Life account.

Privacy

Control your data visibility.

A
We store: your account email (for login), skill dumps you upload, deed tracking information you enter, and notification preferences. We do not have access to your Wurm Online account or game data beyond what you provide.
A
Yes. From your Dashboard, you can delete characters (which removes all associated skill dumps) and delete deeds from the Upkeep Tracker. To delete your entire account and all associated data, contact us through the methods listed in the footer.
A
When adding a character, you choose whether to make them private or public. Private characters are only visible to you. Public characters appear on the leaderboard where others can view only your skill levels. Deeds are always private. Your email and notification settings are never shared.

Tools

Player Search

Search and explore Wurm player profiles.

A
Player Search lets you explore Wurm Online players and their public achievements. Search by name or browse leaderboards to see who has participated in unique slayings, founded deeds, cast rites, earned titles, built mission structures, and more.
A
We track six activity categories:
Slayings - Participation in unique creature kills
Deeds Founded - Settlements created
Rites Cast - Domain rites performed
Titles - Special titles earned
Battle Camps - HotA battle camp captures
Missions - Mission structures built
A
Type a player name in the search box and press Enter. The search is case-insensitive and matches partial names. For example, searching "kaz" will find "Kazador", "Kazmira", etc.
A
The colored pills at the top let you filter results by activity type. Click a pill to show only players with that activity. Click again to toggle it off. You can combine multiple filters - for example, click both "Slayings" and "Rites" to see players who have done both.
A
Results are sorted by recently active first. Players who have participated in events more recently appear at the top. This helps you find active players rather than old inactive accounts.
A
Each player has a dedicated profile showing:
Stats summary - Colored badges with counts for each activity type
Activity timeline - Recent events with dates and details
Event history - Detailed lists of slayings, deeds, rites, titles, etc.
Time filter - Filter activity by 7 days, 30 days, 90 days, or all time
A
Click on any player name in the search results. You can also navigate directly to /player/PlayerName. Player names in the Chronicle are also clickable links to their profiles.
A
All data comes from the official Wurm Online server feeds - the same public announcements you see in the game's Event tab. We track events like "X has slain the venerable Troll King" or "Y has founded the settlement of Z". Private or local events are not captured.
A
Players only appear if they've participated in a public server event that we track. If you've never killed a unique, founded a deed, cast a rite, or done other tracked activities, your player won't have an entry yet. Keep playing and your achievements will be recorded!
A
Currently, all data comes from public server feeds that are visible to everyone in-game. We don't have a way to hide individual players since this is public information. If you have concerns, please contact us.

Event & Auction Timer

Generate countdown timer images for forum posts.

A
The Event & Auction Timer generates dynamic countdown images that you can embed in Wurm Online forum posts. Unlike static images, these timers update automatically every time someone views your post, showing the accurate remaining time.
A
1. Choose Auction Timer (amber) or Event Timer (green)
2. Select the end/start time using the date picker
3. Copy the generated BBCode
4. Paste it into your forum post

The timer will automatically count down whenever someone views your post!
A
Auction Timer (amber) - Shows "Auction ends in:" - Perfect for marketplace listings, private sales, and trade offers.

Event Timer (green) - Shows "Event starts in:" - Great for slayings, rifts, sermons, impalongs, and community events.
A
Below the date picker, you'll find quick-add buttons to adjust the time:

-1 Week / +1 Week - Jump backward or forward by 7 days
-1 Day / +1 Day - Adjust by one day
Now - Reset to the current time (rounded to nearest 5 minutes)

These make it easy to set common auction lengths like "one week from now" with a single click.
A
Click the gear icon (⚙️) next to the time display to access format settings:

Auto-detect - Uses your browser's locale to automatically show dates in your preferred format (MM/DD, DD/MM, or YYYY-MM-DD) and 12 or 24-hour time
Manual - Choose your preferred date format and time display yourself

Your preferences are saved locally and remembered on your next visit.
A
The generated BBCode looks like [img]https://wurmlife.com/auction/1234567890.svg[/img]. Simply paste this into your forum post editor. The forum will automatically display the timer image.
A
Once the countdown reaches zero, the timer will show negative time (e.g., "-01:23:45") and the label will change to "Auction ended" or "Event started". The image remains valid and will continue showing how long ago the event occurred.
A
Yes! Click the "Unix" tab to enter a Unix timestamp directly. This is useful if you already have a timestamp from another source or want precise control over the exact second.
A
The timer accepts your local time and converts it internally. The Server Time display shows CET or CEST automatically based on whether daylight saving time is active in Europe/Berlin (Wurm Online's server timezone). The countdown itself is universal - it shows the same remaining time regardless of viewer timezone.

Skill Grinder

Simulate skill rolls and get grinding recommendations.

A
The Skill Grinder is a Monte Carlo simulation tool that helps you optimize your skill training in Wurm Online. It runs thousands of virtual skill checks to show you the best materials, tools, and conditions for grinding any skill efficiently.
A
Simulation Mode - Enter your exact parameters (skill level, tool QL, difficulty, etc.) to run 10,000 simulated rolls. See detailed statistics including success rate, average result, range, and skillgain percentage.

Skill Advisor Mode - Enter just your skill level and the tool will automatically test all relevant options and recommend the best materials or methods for maximum skillgain.
A
Skillgain % shows how often your rolls land in the "skillgain zone" - the range where you're most likely to gain skill. In Wurm Online, you gain skill when your roll power is between 1 and 39. Too easy (high power) or impossible tasks (failures) give less skillgain opportunity. A higher skillgain % means more efficient training.
A
This shows the percentage of successful attempts that produce items with 90+ quality. Useful when you need high-quality outputs (like for imping or selling) rather than pure skill training.
A
The Skill Advisor supports: Mining (ore types, pickaxe QL), Digging (tile types with slopes), Woodcutting (tree types), Channeling (spell difficulties with deity-specific tips), Blacksmithing (lump QL ranges), Mining resource modes (ore vs shards), and Shearing (wool quality based on animal age and traits).
A
Select "Simulation Mode" and enter your parameters:
Skill Level - Your current skill
Tool QL - Quality of your tool (optional)
Difficulty - Task difficulty (see Wurmpedia for values)
Bonus - Any skill bonuses (Sleep Bonus, affinity, etc.)

Click "Run Simulation" to see your projected outcomes across 10,000 virtual attempts.
A
Select "Skill Advisor", choose a skill from the dropdown, and enter your current skill level. The tool will automatically simulate all relevant options (ore types, tree types, spell difficulties, etc.) and rank them by skillgain efficiency. Results are sorted with the best grinding options at the top.
A
Slopes add difficulty to digging: base difficulty + (1 + slope/5). A steeper slope means harder digging and more skillgain. The Skill Advisor shows various tile types at different slope levels (flat, slope 20, slope 40, slope 60) so you can find the optimal combination for your skill level.
A
Base difficulties by tile type:
Dirt - 0
Sand/Moss - 10
Clay/Tundra - 20
Marsh - 30
Tar - 35
Steppe - 40
Peat - 70

Add slope bonus: slope 20 adds +5 difficulty, slope 40 adds +9, slope 60 adds +13.
A
For optimal skillgain, cast spells 10-25 difficulty below your channeling skill. Each spell has a set difficulty (e.g., Bless = 10, Courier = 30, Genesis = 50). The Skill Advisor shows all spells and highlights which ones are in your optimal training range.
A
For Grinding (max skillgain):
Alignment - Keep low alignment (30-70 skill range) for harder casts
Domain - Cast away from your deity's domain to avoid difficulty reduction
Armor - Wear plate/chain armor for 30% casting penalty
Linking - Link with 1-2 priests for +3 difficulty per link

For Enchanting (high power casts):
Alignment - Stay at 100 alignment (WL) or -100 (BL)
Domain - Cast near your altar or in a temple for bonuses
Armor - Remove plate/chain armor for no penalty
Linking - Link for higher power, but watch the difficulty increase
A
It depends on your goal. Higher tool QL produces better quality outputs but makes tasks easier (less skillgain). Lower tool QL makes tasks harder, giving more skillgain opportunity at the cost of output quality. For pure skill training, consider using lower QL tools.
A
The Shearing advisor calculates wool quality based on animal age and traits. Young animals give lower QL wool, while aged/venerable animals give higher QL. Animals with the "It has a chance to produce more" trait give additional wool. Enter your Animal Husbandry skill to see expected wool quality ranges.
A
When mining, you can get ore (smelts to lumps) or rock shards. The Skill Advisor's mining mode lets you filter by what you want to produce. "Ore" mode shows options optimized for getting ore, while "Shards" mode focuses on rock shard production.
A
The Skill Grinder is based on the open source tehasdf/grinder project which reverse-engineered Wurm Online's skill formulas. While highly accurate for most cases, some edge cases or recent game changes may not be reflected. Use results as guidance, not absolute truth.
A
Make sure to clear your browser cache if you're seeing old results. The Skill Advisor uses a web worker that may be cached. Try a hard refresh (Ctrl+Shift+R) or clear your browser cache to get the latest version.

Shard Analyzer

Parse shard analysis logs to map ore vein locations.

A
A tool that parses your Wurm Online shard analysis logs and visualizes ore vein locations on an interactive grid. Paste your game log and see where ore is located relative to your position.
A
Mine a rock shard from any rock tile, then right-click it and select Analyse. Make sure you have a compass in your inventory to see direction information. The shard can only be analysed once.
A
Trace strength indicates distance from your position:
Traces = 1 tile away
Slight traces = 2 tiles
Faint traces = 3 tiles
Minuscule traces = 4 tiles
Vague traces = 5 tiles
Indistinct traces = 6 tiles

Higher prospecting skill reveals more distant ores.
A
Quality indicates the vein's QL range:
Poor = 20-29 QL
Acceptable = 30-39 QL
Normal = 40-59 QL
Good = 60-79 QL
Very good = 80-94 QL
Utmost = 95-99 QL

Quality visibility requires higher prospecting skill levels.
A
The center cell marked "You" is where you performed the analysis. Colored dots show ore locations relative to your position. Hover over cells to see ore details. Use the grid size selector (7x7, 13x13, 21x21) to zoom in or out.
A
Each ore type has a distinct color: iron (brown), copper (bronze), tin (light gray), zinc (gray), lead (dark gray), silver (silver), gold (gold), adamantine (cyan), glimmersteel (lavender), and more.
A
Skill unlocks more information:
20 = Analyse action, detect 2 tiles
35 = Detect 3 tiles
51 = Detect 4 tiles
68 = Detect 5 tiles
85 = Detect 6 tiles

Quality visibility has separate skill thresholds.
A
Yes! Without a compass in your inventory, the game won't show direction information and the tool can't map ore locations. Always carry a compass when prospecting.
